Website URL QR Code Generator
Paste a link and get a QR code that opens it on any phone. Keep it plain, or add your logo and colours before you download.
Tips for links that scan well
- Shorter links make simpler codes. Every extra character adds modules, so a long link produces a denser pattern that is harder to scan when printed small.
- Use the https:// version of your link so phones open it securely without warnings.
- Check the page on a phone first. Almost everyone scanning will be on mobile.
Use a link you control
The code always opens exactly the address you enter. If you link to a page on your own site, you can change that page — or redirect it — later, and every code already printed keeps working. That is the free alternative to paid "dynamic" QR codes.
Should you use a link shortener?
A short link makes a simpler code, but it adds a dependency: if the shortening service closes or disables the link, your printed codes break. For anything printed in quantity, prefer a short path on your own domain (for example yourbrand.com/menu) over a third-party short link.
Measure visits with UTM tags
Add ?utm_source=poster&utm_medium=qr to the end of your link to see visits from the code in Google Analytics. See the business guide for more on tracking.
Frequently asked questions
Does a URL QR code expire?
No. The link is stored in the code itself, so it works for as long as the web page exists.
Can I change the link after printing?
The code always opens the same address. Link to a page on your own site and redirect it when you need to change the destination.
Will the QR code open an app instead of the browser?
If the link belongs to an app the phone has installed — such as Instagram or YouTube — the phone may open the app. For social profiles, try the Social Media tab, which adds the platform's logo.
Is there a maximum link length?
The generator accepts up to 1,000 characters, but shorter links produce codes that scan faster, especially at small print sizes.
